Big Babies

Okay today is sono day so time for a quick update. First, the babies and the mommy all look great. They measured the babies today and we have some big babies, okay so big is a bit of an overstatement but they are a little above "normal". I am just take this time to call my girls "big" without it being a bad thing.

Logan - 2 lbs 9 oz
Lizy - 2lbs 10 oz
Madi - 2lbs 12 oz

There has been a little more action around here the last week or so. AJ's contractions have increased and she is having at least one, sometimes two Terb Shots a day. This isn't necessarily a bad thing, but its not a good thing either. Its more of an expected complication of being very, very pregnant. The terb is not all that fun, it usually causes her heart to race for about 2 hours and she gets a little shaky. This has become her new worst part of the day. Even with the increased contractions the doctors are still confident we can go at least a couple more weeks, which is great new for the babies, bad news for AJ. Ultimately though she wants whats best for the babies so a few more weeks of misery here we come...side note mean old nurse just came in for yet another Terb shot, that's two today.

Well that's all for now, but I will leave you with this. I have a very funny story from the last week that neither Amy-Jo or myself would like to tell. I can be bought though so the first person to send some Bud Light my way gets to here the goods. Take care and thanks for the thoughts and prayers.

We're not ignoring you...

I promise I am not ignoring you, our loyal blog follower, ya I'm talking to you. There has been a real lack of blog updates lately and for that I do apologize, but the excuse is a good one. No news is good news! Honestly things for the most part have been a little quiet around here, not to jinx it or anything but we just kinda sit around and wait. Its a welcome change from a couple months back when fear filled our every waking second. Now that we are past viability and at 27.5 weeks we are feeling a weight lifted off our shoulders. So for now we just wait, and watch a lot of TV. I am going to miss football by the way, AJ won't but I will, weekends watching made for TV movies does not sound like a fun time to me. But everyday we are still pregnant is a blessing so we do what we must. Side note, if anyone is wanting to put money on the date the babies are coming shoot for February 1st, right about kickoff.

Anyway we did have a sono on Monday and everything was fine. They did not measure the babies so no update there. The babies all looked good, Logan continued his game of hide and go seek behind the cervix, but they did finally get a picture of him (haven't had one in about a month).

AJ gained 2 lbs last week for a total weight gain of 27 pounds. Not a lot of weight but all things considered the doctors are pretty happy. And the most important thing is the babies are growing (which they are). I finally worked up the courage to step on a scale myself. I have avoided this like the plague and was shocked to discover I ONLY gained 8 pounds. Never in my life have I been happy to gain 8 pounds, except when you fear it could have been 20. I had the fat trifecta working with 1. Pregnant Wife, 2. Holidays, 3. Hospital Stay = lots and lots of eating out, and still only gained 8 pounds. I had a couple things working in my favor though, one I already had a few extra pounds sticking around and two haven't been able to drink beer. I miss beer, I really hope they still make it when I can drink it again in 18 years.

She is still on the Procardia for contractions. They have picked up in number and intensity the last week which has left AJ in a little more pain the normal. At this point she really has to work hard just to be uncomfortable. Most of the time she is in pain, except during Ambien time of course.

A couple new Ambien highlights too, they are too funny not to share. She has stumbled upon a new theme to get me out of bed when she needs me for something. And I am not talking about getting me out of bed a 7AM, this is more like 3 or 4AM. There are two main reasons she needs out of bed or needs help at this hour, she is hungry or she has to use the restroom (I have said this before but this has been good practice for me as its like I already have a child). Instead of simply asking me "Can you get me something to eat?" or "Can you help me to the bathroom?" she found a "better" way to ask. It goes a little something like "Brandon, wake up! Wake up! Are you hungry?" (remember this is at 3AM) or "Brandon, do you have to pee?" Yes of course I am hungry, I was just too busy sleeping to do anything about it. Let me get up and eat something now. Honestly I found it too funny not to help her, she's creative have to give her credit there.

I did finally get the nursery painted last weekend, with some help from some friends. Thanks to Tara, Corey, Kris and Phil! With the team we were able to knock out the nursery and my office in one day so it didn't take multiple days. Its just painted not put together yet so no pictures to share as right now it looks like just your everyday, run-of-the-mill junk room. Its a work in progress.

That's it for now, hopefully another boring week. Who are we kidding Superbowl is still two weeks off so a boring couple weeks! Oh and sorry for wasting 10 minutes of your time reading my ramblings, boy can I stretch out a blog.

Update from Paradise

And by paradise I mean the inside of the hospital for the 43rd consecutive day, ya not at all stir crazy. It is a blessing to be here though it means our babies are safe and are growing so we gladly spend as much time here as we can, but it does stink just a little. Speaking of growing babies (how about that lead in) we had our sono today. They FINALLY measured the babies again, its been three weeks since our last "true" sono so we were more then ready to get an update. So here is the tale of the tape:

Logan: 2 pounds 1 ounce (and by FAR the most difficult to measure, he has nestled himself right up against mommies cervix)

Elizabeth: 2 pounds 3 ounces - The heaviest, though as to not give her a complex we will call her the "most healthy"

Madison - 2 pounds 2 ounces - She kinda hangs out in the penthouse suite enjoying all her extra space and checking out the view

Along with three good looking babies the cervix also looked pretty good. Measuring around 2 cm its been around the same since we checked in for the second stay so all in all it looks pretty good. It has been such a crazy ride but honestly I think AJ may try to set a record for length of carrying triplets. We may need to start looking into colleges by the time they get out of there! I guess that may be a little long, but we are very excited to be where we are today given the fact 6 weeks ago we were told we wouldn't make it through the week. Its amazing what a little prayer and determination can do!

A little update from the weight gaining department. AJ has still only gained 26 pounds, not even close to our 70 pound goal. This really isn't too big of a deal at this point, as long as the babies are growing they are not too concerned about the mothers weight. And a big reason for the lack of weight gain is the early bed rest, she is basically losing all her muscle at this point and the babies are eating up the few calories she is able to consume during the day. I think she may end up weighing less after the babies are born then she did before she got pregnant. Of course she won't be able to walk up a flight of stairs due to muscle loss, but hey you can't have it all.

A friend of ours has a friend that likes to take pictures and she offered to come up and take some belly shots of AJ this last week. Thanks so much Sarah! AJ really loves how the pictures turned out and she really enjoyed getting out of bed for more than 3 minutes. Here are a just a couple of the pictures:

Thanks for all the thoughts and prayers, please keep it up. Hopefully won't be much to report for the next week so I will send out another update after next weeks sono.

25 weeks 2 days 21 hours 11 minutes 5 secs

Not that we are keeping track of progress but ummm, ya who are we kidding we are.

We had our sono yesterday which went well. We were hoping for a measurement but because of an impromptu doctor visit mid week 9 days ago they didn't. Its hard to explain, lets just say I didn't agree but was too tired to put up a good fight. Everything looked okay but they are a little, and I stress the little part, worried about the fluid around Logan. It is adequate but below where the girls fluid levels are. He still has enough to grow and be healthy but it is something they are going to keep an eye on. Basically if the fluid level gets too low they will probably have to take the babies out, though I don't think that will be an issue for at LEAST a couple of weeks. They are having us back in on Thursday to take another look, which we both expect to be the same result.

I am racking my brain for stuff to add but honestly I am coming up with nothing. Sorry for the short update, hopefully I will get another one up this week that will be a bit longer.

Thanks to everyone who has continued to pray and please KEEP IT UP!
